Way of Wade 8083 Ultra V2 Review Unmatched Performance and Comfort for Basketball Enthusiasts

Introduction

What’s up, Zack here, and yes, today I found my way to the Wade 8083 Ultra V2. He speaks a mouthful. We’ll see how many times I get it right in the article. But it’s a fairly significant update, in my opinion, to upgrade from the 808 3 Ultra so let’s get into it. And thanks to Wade for sending me a pair of these over to check out. However, In this artice there is no sponsored, and as always, all opinions, good, bad, and indifferent, are still my own.

Uppers

Now, moving to the top of the 8083 Ultra V2, this is the biggest material change from the 8083 Ultra. And some weird stuff in it, which is pretty crazy. I mean, it’s not what I expected. So at the top, you get a whole tight meshing around it. It has double reinforcement. And then on their language, it’s just a flexible language. But because the sides are so strong and because the lace line is so tightly stitched in the tongue, you still get a really strong tie on them. You’ve got these two pivot points right here in the front foot with the rope. Perhaps this is where it will fail first. But then it goes all the way down to the ankle collar, it’s, you know, a little bit more of a high top. This is actually another big material change over the Ultra V2 vs the Ultras. And the thing is, these laces a lot of times, you know, when your tongue is really thin, they’re going to dig in.

Uppers

Lace Line and Ankle Collar

However, the stress redistribution on them is good enough where I never felt any discomfort from it. I had a few other issues, which we’ll talk about in the fit section of the other parts of it, but in terms of the lace line, not really an issue, which was a huge surprise to me. Now it goes up, as I said, into a high peak. It’s, you know, definitely flexible, but it gives some good biofeedback on the distal leg. And then you have, which is different from the 8083 Ultra to the V2, is you have a really padded ring around the ankle collar. They had absolutely zero heel slippage. It comes with some lag in it, which I think we’ll talk about in a fit, but…

Breathability

In terms of its performance, it was truly outstanding. Now, if you look at it on the breathability test, which obviously you can say I just did the breathability mapping, they only hit 102.4 degrees, and I thought that was a lot hotter than the 8083 Ultra. shall be. They finished low heat. I think a lot of this can be shown on their breathability mapping. Number one, the fog was just blowing through those little hexagonal holes in the forehead. It was really funny to watch. And then it was blowing too much outside the front foot. It took a second, but then once started, really started to come out of all that meshing. I also looked at the heat gun, I was actually feeling the heat here in this little TPU window as well.

Durability

The same is true on the 8083 Ultra. But I think it’s more even though it’s a little heavier on them, the engineering is a little better than the 8083 Ultra I think. So you’re getting slightly better lockdown and containment than the 8083 Ultra, but just as good, if not better, breathability. Now the upper stability test, 10 seconds of the highest tolerance sandpaper. I mean, the molasses starts going through that top layer, but that layer is so thick. So I mean, I don’t think it’s going to be that big of a deal and besides the outsole trade is pretty high up there. So I think if you’re a dragger slider on an outdoor court, it might start to look a little worn, but the integrity should still be there.

Midsole

So looking at the midsole, the 8083 Ultra V2. Yes, right then. It is the same as the 8083 Ultra. It’s a whole bed of thermoplastic foam, that boom foam. Then you have a four-foot stuffed shank, which is plastic. And, you know, very tough at that. It climbs into the arch, a little more arch support. Oddly enough, if there are shank scores on them, it only gets a 0.2 because you have a bottom-loaded, very thin carbon fiber shank. And you also get the forefoot shank, which rides up to the midfoot here, but plantarly just goes into the forefoot, so it’s 0.2. What I’ve noticed about the 8083 Ultra V2 and just the Ultra, is that they definitely have a bouncier drop-in midsole setup than a lot of other drop-in shoes.

Midsole

Drop-In Midsole

Yes, a lot of drop-ins feel cushiony, and they feel rubbery and tight, but when you actually go to flex the shoe, when you’re lifting off the ground, they don’t feel too violent, right? Is? Like something that’s more of a traditional stiff setup midsole that gives you a lot more of a diving board effect. The 8083 Ultra and Ultra V2 have a really nice combination of a very nice, sharp feel, which you know is comfortable on the footbed, but also a sense of balance and a sense of launch. Same thing on balance height test, same thing on 8083 Ultra, 40 and a half cm in back foot, 40 in front foot. Number one, it shows you how well encapsulated the boom foam is.

Foam Performance

It doesn’t matter what its surroundings are. Pretty much, you know, the functions are very similar if it’s a low stack or a high stack. But it just shows you, number two, that this foam gives a lot back, and with a shank that’s a little stiffer there that climbs into the arch, especially when you’re pushing medially. Remember, when you go for a push-off, well, your metatarsal heads are going to be stacked, right? This is why basketball shoes are shaped the way they are. They are meant to be able to give you smooth propulsion. And when you’re in the last phase of your stance, you’re moving in the middle, right? So I mean, really, it’s just within him. So when you get a lot of arch coverage here, the middle, and it goes up, that gives the inside of your foot a little bit more mechanical advantage.

Foam Performance

Shank Design

That’s why I like shoes that have a slightly longer leg. I think it gives you more of a mechanical advantage there. But number two, it actually adds some arch support to make that last step of the stance, which is a little bit more efficient. Stepping into the outsole trade of the 8083 Ultra V2. It’s that wavy wave pattern that gets denser under the ball of the foot and here at the back of the heel. The midfoot gets really really wide. And then it also has this micrograting on each tread line, which gives it a little bit of a checkerboard effect there that gives a little bit more microtraction. Remember that you’ve got your macro traction, which is the actual individual trades.

Shank Design

Gritting and Traction

And you’ve got that tough, which some shoe companies are starting to do. And it gives you a little more fine touch grip. Now, obviously, it’s going to wear off, especially if you’re wearing it on the outdoor courts. Now, this gives the shoe some outside traction, given its durable profile, which we’ll get to in a second. On the grip test ramp, 43 cm, which is going into this high range of grip shoes. The thing is, if you take them out, that grind will start to wash away. If you look at the outsole durability test on these things, 10 seconds of the highest grit sandpaper, I mean, didn’t hurt a millimeter. I mean, they are good in terms of durability. Except if you want the real fine touch traction that the grating gives you, the micro grating, put them on indoor courts.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Use

Obviously, keep them on the soft courts because that’s what communication is all about. These tiny micro-grids are meant to interact with hardwood, rubber courts, while the macro-traction, or traction you see now, is meant to be worn on outdoor courts. If you’re only going to use them for outdoor courts, they’ll be fine. They will last a long time, especially for a drop-in shoe. But if you want to… you know, continue the really intimate tooling of this shoe, indoors. But if you’re looking for the most durable drop-in midsole shoes for outdoor courts, these will still have you covered. One thing about the v2 vs the 8083 Ultra, the original, is its speed ratio. These come in at 2.56, and the reason the speed ratio is a little lower than the original is because they are a little heavier than the shoe.

Indoor vs. Outdoor Use

Fit and Feel

Now, one thing I like a little bit more about them is that they’re a little bit taller, right? Yeah, you have a little bit more intimate contact with the distal tibia and so it feels like the shoe is a little bit more of an extension of your leg, that’s the speed you’re really going to feel me maybe not me. Don’t think it’s that much of a difference that you’ll notice it, but if you’re someone who really feels the weight in the 8083 Ultra shoes, it feels lighter so you either have that extension of your leg feel. going to get 3 Ultra v2 or you can get a lighter package with the 8083 Ultra and the superior interaction with your leg brings me right into the fit of the V2s. They basically fit the 8083 Ultra a little differently than the original in terms of break-ins, I mean really break-ins and it’s a little bit, I mean, but not much. The 8083 Ultra V2 definitely takes a bit longer to break in the ankle collar. Because remember, from the upper part, it’s a really nice ring around your ankle that just provides a ton of lockdown, I mean, these things, I guess I can lock your foot in so well. Sucks, but it takes a while to break in. And when I broke them in, it got a lot better and it started to feel like, you know, Kobe once they start breaking in super buttery, it’s really nice around your legs. .

Usable Space and Foot Issues

So the other thing you have to remember with any shoe drop fit, is the usable space compared to the actual length and width of the shoe. Now these come in a width of 8.5 for my size 11, which is not as wide as some other shoes out there and not as wide as other weight shoe styles. And that’s because remember the drop-in rails, they have to lock your foot into the shoe. Something has to keep you inside. Now with the length, your usable length is a little less than other shoes. Now, if you’re someone who really likes to have one-on-one fits and have a lot of intimate contact, that’s awesome, right? The side of your foot will start to break the sides of this drop-in, but then remember you’ve got the side of the shoe and then you’ve got this plastic piece on the outside here, this lateral TPU. The bar is right there. . So anyone with a Taylor bun or a more prominent styloid is going to match a bit. Really on most drop-in shoes, if there’s something stabilizing them you’re going to be somewhat mismatched. So, I mean, I think a narrow medium foot, still fits true to size. A 2E, honestly, I think you’d go up a half size maybe fine, but still get this thing one-to-one, like I said, because of the length issue. In terms of the snakebite foot on these things, like I said, for a drop and I think I said that on the drop-in of a lot of wave weight, it’s a problem with any plantar foot. are the best drop-ins for . Achilles tendonitis, plantar fasciitis, bursitis, ball of foot pain.

Usable Space and Foot Issues

Arch Support and Orthotic Substitute

Even the arch pain, I mean, this thing’s got reinforcements on its arch. So remember, you can’t put an orthotic in a drop-in midsole shoe, but this is as close as you’re going to get to an over. A counter-orthotic in your shoe. So I think if you’re looking at a drop-in midsole for something that’s going to make you feel tight on the bottom of your foot, these are going to be one of the best out there, if not the last few years. I’m not one of the best. So by the time you get through the initial break-in phase, these things should treat you well. And most importantly in terms of playability, I know this might be trite, but I liked v2 of it better than v1.

Performance Comparison

I actually thought the 8083 was a better playing shoe than the 8083 Ultra and then I think the 8083 Ultra v2 is like number two, right? I still think the 8083 is the best in the lineup. I think it’s a solid second place. Just because once you get past the break-in phase on it, you feel a little bit more like a complete package. You know, all the trappings, the carbon fiber and the heel and then you know, the shin on the drop-in, everything else, the upper, just feels more like a drop-in shoe. The 8083 Ultra is also more of a drop-in shoe, but I feel like it does it better, right? You get better contact with your leg.

So the shoe feels a little bit more like I said, like an extension of your leg, but not just for the fit and the redistribution of the weight, but Even more so when you’re running. And down the court and you’re trying to make hard cuts, you’re going to get a little bit more biofeedback. Not because it prevents ankle sprains from a high peak, high peak boulders, but you get more biofeedback from them. So you feel a little more tactile in them. For some reason, I thought they had a better grip. I know it’s the exact same rubber, but I remember it just not having the crazy grip of the 808 three when they came out, it feels like the 8083. I’m not sure, it might just be because of the dye on it.

Conclusion

I have no idea, but I felt the grip on them was rock solid as well. So like I said, if you want a more drop-in midsole, something that has a lot of nimble footwork, but something that can keep your foot straight, that it’s not just under it. will go, or will not feel very weak. As some might drop in, then yeah, I think, it’s definitely a great pickup. If anyone has any tips on hitting this shot correctly please let me know.
